Lord Vishwakarma is the son of Brahma and presiding deity of all architects and craftsmen. Vishwakarma Puja is performed to show reverence to Lord Vishwakarma. Being endowed with skills to create cities and weapons, he is also known as the ‘Devashilpi’ or the ‘Divine Carpenter’. Vishwakarma Puja is performed to show reverence to Lord Vishwakarma. One story suggests that this ‘Divine Architect’ had also engineered City of Dwarka, towns of Indraprastha, Hastinapur and Sone Ki Lanka. However, his name might not be a household name but he is highly revered among working class. During Vishwakarma puja, all the tools of the trade are cleaned to appease Lord Vishwakarma.
